So you decided to find out a little about me. Well, abandoned at birth and raised by a Band of Sea Otters seems most likely. But alas where does the wood working come into it. Maybe Mum really had a thing with a beaver, who knows?
I was born in Western Canada and raised around the Vancouver suburbs. I loved to ski, bicycle, kayak and generally be outdoors as a kid. Dad owned a saw mill and Mum was an interior decorator. I imagine those two influences might have rubbed off on me. I’ve worked in sawmills, a US embassy, been a ski bum, a professional photographer in the past and an aviation structural repair mechanic for quite some time as well. I guess it all adds up to skills you can apply to furniture eventually. Aside from being craftsman, I am a Dad to two wonderful girls.
I’ve wanted to get back to wood for probably 10 or 12 years at least. So I even went so far as to go to school, to study fine woodworking. In the process I got hooked on designing as well and now you couldn’t take it away from me. I still love doing small stand alone pieces of furniture, but the stuff that really gets me going is doing the whole room thing. That would include bookcases, cabinets, moldings, dining room furniture, chairs, doors, beds, etc. I am moved by beautiful places and beautiful things, and I believe a living environment has to be treated with due regard. I encourage others to be thoughtful about the choices they make in the way they live. I’m ready for you, so let’s do something imaginative together.
